If I could be a bird I would be a pelican. Pelicans are sociable, but not confined to flock. They look awkward during takeoff but graceful in flight. They have been known to fly great distances and turn up unexpectedly, but somehow manage to be in the right place at the right time. And their beaks hold more than their bellies can.
I am Professor of Environmental Engineering at UCL where I work on the sustainability of urban water systems and community engagement with infrastruture.
